Suicide is a leading cause of death among South African adolescents. Teachers and school leaders are often the first adults to notice warning signs. Yet many educators feel unprepared to respond effectively.The DBE Protect Suicide Prevention Program is a comprehensive, evidence-based online course designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and resources to prevent learner suicide and respond to crises with confidence and care.This course is based on the Learner Suicide Prevention, Support and Crisis Intervention Toolkit developed by the Department of Basic Education. It provides practical, South African-specific training aligned to the needs of educators, school leaders, and School-Based Support Teams.
